The goal of my research is to understand the dynamics and thermodynamics of the oceanic circulation in the southeastern tropical Indian Ocean, e.g. along the southern coast of Sumatra and Java, in the Indonesian Throughflow region and in the eastern Indonesia seas (Banda, Flores and Arafura seas). In particular, I am currently interested in the following topics:
- Intraseasonal and seasonal variations of upper ocean circulation in the equatorial Indian Ocean.
- Decadal modulation of dominant mode of variability in the equatorial Indian Ocean.
- Interannual modulation of intraseasonal variability in the throughflow transports.
- Variability of the Java upwelling system.
- Variability of chlorophyll distribution in the southeastern tropical Indian Ocean.
